Crackdown on Malicious Trademark Application and Illegal Agency (September 2021)
In light of the fact that the names of Olympic athletes and some buzzwords with specific referential meanings were submitted for trademark registration by individual enterprises and natural persons, the CNIPA rejected the relevant trademark registration applications.
On September 1, 2021, the office of CNIPA issued a notification for severely crackdown on the agent's malicious rush to register buzzwords of the relevant Olympic Games, requiring the relevant agency to immediately organize an investigation according to the publicity clues. If there were violations, it should be punished according to law. If the circumstances were serious, it should be reported to the CNIPA to stop accepting its trademark agency business according to law.
