The number of PCT international applications in China in 2016 increased by 44.7% from the last year (Mar-2017)
On March 15, 2017, the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO) announced the status of PCT international applications for patent in 2016. According to the report, the number of PCT international applications in China amounted to 43,100, an increase of 44.7% from the last year and ranked third in the world following the U.S. (56,700 applications) and Japan (45,200 applications). The top figure worldwide was 4,123 international publications by ZTE Corporation, followed by 3,692 by Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. Next came Qualcomm, Inc. of the U.S., Mitsubishi Electric Corporation of Japan, and LG Electronics Incorporated of Korea.
Additionally, according to the report, international applications in the fields of data communications, computer technologies, and electric machines accounted for high-order ratios as a whole in 2016.
