Chinese Trademark Application Accounted for One-Third in the World in 2015 (Nov-2016)
According to the World Intellectual Property Indicators, the total global trademark applications in 2015 were six million with a year-on-year growth of 15.3%, and were 8.4 million calculated by classification; China recorded 2.83 million, the most of the applications by classification, which accounted for one-third of the total global applications.
The trademark applications of U.S. (0.517 million) and EUIPO (0.366 million) are ranked second and third respectively followed by Japan (0.345 million) and India (0.290 million). Among the top twenty, the countries having a double-digit growth rate in trademark applications in 2015 are Japan (43%), Italy (32.6%), China (27.4%), India (21.9%) and Korea (13.9%).
